About
Academic profile and research focus
I am Ashin Vinod, an Integrated MS student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram. My work is centered on data-driven systems for real-world decision making, with a strong emphasis on geospatial AI, physics-informed modeling, and sustainability-oriented engineering.
In recent years, I have contributed to projects spanning precision farming, wildfire risk analysis, and climate-relevant forecasting. I have worked in roles including Project Manager, Business and Intellectual Property Manager, and Project Engineer and Geospatial Analyst across initiatives associated with KDISC, Kerala Agricultural University, and the Government of Kerala in collaboration with Digital University Kerala.
My research practice combines statistical reasoning with modern machine learning. I have developed and applied methods such as Physics-Informed Graph Neural Networks (PI-GNN), time-series modeling for monsoon onset prediction, and remote sensing workflows for spatial intelligence. I am especially interested in interdisciplinary systems where robust modeling can improve public outcomes.
Beyond technical development, I value communication and design as core scholarly tools. I have led design and science communication efforts in student-led institutional initiatives, including magazine publishing, science festival branding, and collaborative outreach events.
I welcome conversations on research collaborations, applied AI projects, and opportunities at the interface of science, policy, and engineering. You can reach me at ashin22@iisertvm.ac.in .
